Well, the thing is indeed large enough, except none of the half dozen pouches provided can hold the 1490, so there's no way to hold the GPS down inside. Luckily, the top has a depression into which the 1490 will fit perfectly. I've asked my wife to make a fabric pouch for the 1490 and I'll attach a couple strips of elastic or Velcro across the well to secure the unit.Also, the case does not include the stated wrist strap (at least mine didn't, but I would have pulled it off anyway), and there's no handle, belt loop or other means of carrying it if you plan to take your GPS hiking. I haven't tried putting it in my car as yet, but I can see the hard shell could be a pain when sliding the case under a seat, especially given its comparatively large size (10x7x3.5).
