The Garmin unit used a thin plastic lever to generate the suction, and it inevitably broke. This will not happen with the RAM system. Where the other unit was difficult to adjust to suit my viewing, this one is easy. Where the other device allowed vibration and jiggling of the GPS while driving, this one keeps the GPS completely still. Like I said above it is of SOLID construction made in the USA. It fits perfectly and just rests in the cradle. I drove over some good bumps and tight turns and it stays in place just fine. The only reason for the 4-star rating instead of 5 is that is lacked instructions, although a nice full color brochure of all RAM products was included.There are 4 screws and 2 bolts you need to screw in with a Phillips screwdriver which is pretty straight forward, however like I said before a simple instruction sheet would be nice. It is easily adjustable so you can get just the right angle. I highly recommend it for anyone who has this model GPS and would like to get additional usage in your vehicle. |
